Vision Products Learners Celebration

Celebration events for the success of all the learners at Vision Products in the last year was held on the 7th  October at the Pontyclun site and 10th October at the Newport site.

The day started with a speech from our Community Branch Secretary and Vision Products Training Manager explaining the working relationship between the Union, Communitas and the management to benefit our members and the other workers.

This was followed by a presentation of educational certificates achieved in the last year in the Essential Skills in the Workplace Programme.

A trophy shield was also awarded to the most improved learner of the year sponsored by Communitas.

AM Mick Antoniw and RCT Councillor Keiron Montague attend the event in Pontyclun to present learners with their certificates and MP Jessica Morden attended the event in Newport to present the most improved learner of the year award.

The plan is for this to be a yearly celebration with the shield having the winning learner’s name engraved on it every year.

Communitas, funded through the Welsh Union Learning Fund, provided iPads and other learning centre equipment to help empower the learners at both sites. As a way of making the celebration day more fun and to help the workers be more comfortable using the equipment, iPad taster sessions were delivered on the day. In addition to this a stall was set up for Community and Communitas to make contact with our members, as a way of growing our membership and to give out information on the benefits of the union and its training arm.
